What to check first
- Back up website files and database

- Test the new hosting before switching public traffic
Inventory dependencies before the move
Record the registrar, DNS, mail provider, files, database, SSL setup, and any outside integrations. Moving the website does not automatically require moving the domain or email. Preserve old account access until the new setup is tested.
Stage and test the destination
Copy the site and database, then review major pages, forms, logged-in functions, redirects, and mobile layout away from public traffic. Plan how new orders or entries will be handled during cutover.
Make a controlled switch
Change only the necessary DNS records, verify the public certificate and email routing, and keep a rollback path. Cancel old services only after confirming nothing important still depends on them.
Can the domain stay at GoDaddy?
Yes. Domain registration and website hosting are separate decisions.
